Austin Wayne Self – American Professional Stock Car Driver

Austin Wayne Self is a 18-year-old professional race car driver competing full time on the NASCAR ARCA Series.

Austin Wayne Self competed in his first full ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards in 2014 for Cunningham Motorsports. Self piloted the No. 22 Dodge with Chad Bryant serving as his crew chief. Austin Wayne Self also raced in as many Pro Late model races at his home track in Kyle, Texas as he could. With 5 top 5 finishes and 13 top 10’s in his ARCA racing season, Self racked up his Rookie Challenge points and no one could catch him (or even come close). Austin was awarded the title of Rookie of the Year for the 2014 season.

The end of the 2014 season also marked some new changes for Self and his racing career. In December, at the PRI Show in Indianapolis, IN Self announced that he would be signing with Mason Mitchell Motorsports for the 2015 ARCA racing season. MMM driver Mason Mitchell took the ARCA Championship in 2014. As former Champions, the team felt that they could compete for their second consecutive championship with the right driver. Self’s proven talent and Rookie of the Year accomplishment made him their most attractive prospect. Self also believed that a team of their caliber would be the best opportunity for him in order to compete for his first championship.

Austin fell in love with racing at age 4 when he and his Dad started competing at local karting tracks, and Austin got behind the wheel of his first car and won!
